On 5/22/09 Melissa said... I would discourage anyone from leaving their child at this daycare. There is one person there with a degree everyone else has a certificate. There is no direction for the children. The philosophy is a big free for all. I could pay a babysitter to stay home with my daughter and get better service. We chose Kindercare for a more civilized environment.

On 6/19/09 mother of three said... I think it's sad that Melissa had such a bad experience with Calling All Kids, Too. I had just the opposite. I have had three kids go through Calling All Kids, Again and Calling All Kids, Too. These are great daycare centers run by loving and dedicated caregivers. It's unfortunate that Melissa's experience was that the philosophy at these centers is one of "a big free for all". On the contrary - the philosphy is one of active participation with the children, allowing the children to be independant thinkers and allowing them to discover and explore in a safe environment. I find it troubling to read the previous comment because I know from personal experience that every day at Calling All Kids has a purpose and directive. There is always a planned project, activity etc on top of the regularly scheduled "small group", reader's workshop etc. Our experience at both Calling All Kids, Too and Calling All Kids, Again has been excellent. Our children have thrived in this loving environment. The caregivers are dedicated and loyal and obviously love where they work many of them have been there in excess of 10-15 years. My first grader was extremely prepared for kindergarten and transition was a breeze. Learning in this environment is fun. The kids are encouraged to learn but not forced to do it all together or at the same pace. Refreshing! Each child is treated as an individual with stregths and weaknesses emphasized and addressed. From the fantastic baby room, to the toddler room, to the pre-school room, the philosphy of nurture, stimulate, support and encourage is very apparent. This is a GREAT place for kids. I hope Melissa finds what she needs at Kindercare.

On 6/19/09 BabsC said... I also had a bad experience with Call All Kids Too only I didn't know it until my son went to Kindergarten this past year. He was unprepared and the teacher had a tough time with him making it hard for everyone. I'm so glad the year is almost over and hope that 1st grade will be easier for him now that he understands what to expect in the classroom.

On 6/25/09 Melissa B said... I was not aware there was a second Calling All Kids in Melville. I did not have any experience with the daycare I merely took a tour. My daughter would have been in the toddler room, they were in the playground and she would have moved up to the preschool shortly after starting I went into the preschool room and saw the chaos. I wasn't there long but long enough to see that kids were left alone to do their own thing. Maybe the teacher kid ratio was off that day but I didn't see the teachers with this kids. It looked like a babysitting service with toys for the kids. We are thrilled with Kindercare and what they have to offer. Glad you liked Calling All Kids Mother of Threee, it just wasn't for us!

On 6/26/09 Joanne said... I find that the people who spend their time writing negative comments based on a tour have no clue what goes on in the daily life of children in a group setting. I'm glad you're looking for child care for your children out side your home. Calling All Kids, Too has a wonderful philosophy that encouraged my children to problem solve and become independent thinkers. They were more than ready to take on the challenge of Kindergarten and have done well because of their experiences at Calling All Kids,Too. Melissa, don't be so quick to judge.
